“MMMNN!”

Charlie cried out into her pacifier as soon as she woke up. She didn’t know how long it had been. She tried to move and realized…nope. Still swaddled. That weighted blanket was really doing a number on her. She couldn’t move more than an inch or two for anything. But she tried anyway and then with a squish that made her wince, she realized, yup, still messy. Nothing had changed since she’d fallen asleep.

“Well, good morning, sleepyhead.”

Well, one thing was different. Parked above the crib, sitting in mid-air, was a smiling nanny ghost.

Charlie moaned into her pacifier. Ida just giggled.

“Gosh, you look so adorable like that, Charlie, maybe I should just leave you here!” Then Charlie made a lot more noises into her pacifier and wriggled for all she was worth. Which credit to the job the sheets had done swaddling her, wasn’t much. A weak little tent here and there. Otherwise she remained motionless in that crib. “Alright, alright! I’m just teasing, let’s get you up,” she said and reached her big hands down, easily picking up all of Charlie’s weight and the heavy wrappings and carrying her out of the crib.

She was laid down on a changing table. Ida certainly took her time undoing the swaddling, gradually undoing each blanket and sheet wrapped around Charlie one at a time, humming to herself as she folded them up and stacked them in a neat little pile. About halfway through, during another series of displeased noises, Ida looked at Charlie.

“Oh, I’m sorry!” She said with a laugh that made Charlie fairly certain she was not sorry. She reached down and popped the pacifier out of her mouth. “My little ones are usually so content to lay down all wrapped up in their fudgey diapers, so I just take care of the folding ahead of time. You probably want a change, don’t you!”

“You’re a real peach,” Charlie grunted, working out her jaw a bit. “Can I just do that part myself?”

“Mmmmmn, nope!” Ida said, tapping Charlie on the nose. “Nana’s rules. Nana changes the diapers!” Charlie let out a sigh. Ida at least sped up removing all the blankets, exposing Charlie and her well-filled well-squished diaper. Which, unfortunately, Ida took the opportunity to squish one more time by palming Charlie’s bottom. “Hehe, looks like Charlie made good use of her diaper after all! It was a good thing we decided to leave it on, wasn’t it?”

Charlie didn’t wanna seem ungrateful, especially cause she did rip the tapes off and take the diaper off after that, but she also wondered if Ida had to have quite so much fun with this.

“It’s not actually morning, is it?” She asked, changing the subject.

“Oh, no. You were only asleep for about 20 minutes,” Ida said as she went to cleaning Charlie up. “These lullabies are very weak when used on girls who aren’t already enrolled in the daycare.” Charlie blinked and half sat herself up.

“So I’m not enrolled?” She asked. “That means I didn’t lose yet?” Ida smiled at her and held up five fingers….then folded her thumb down.

“You’re still wearing the clothes you came in here with, remember?” She asked. Charlie let out a breath of relief and fell back onto the changing table. Her jeans were around her ankles as her bottom was getting powdered, sure, but she was still in her original clothes.

“Okay. It was five. It was five.” She ran her hands down her face. “I thought I was a goner for a second.” Ida tossed the used diaper in a pail and pulled a new one out from the table, sliding it under Charlie’s bottom. Charlie grimaced that she was being re-diapered, but she didn’t try to stop it from happening. Ida could clearly do whatever she wanted anyway, it seemed ungrateful to complain after she had just let her out of that swaddling and changed her out of the messy diaper, and frankly, once she got out of this room, those ghost girls probably weren’t done trying to get her to poop her pants, so, maybe it was better, just for the moment.

“Of course, I could change you into some pajamas and put you back down in the crib for a longer nap, if you prefer,” Ida offered as she finished taping the new diaper up.

“I’lllll pass, thanks,” Charlie said with a little laugh and tried to grab her jeans. Ida took them instead, pulling them up over Charlie’s diaper, then putting her hands under her arms to lift her up off the changing table and set her down.

“Of course. The offer remains, though,” She said. “You know I’ll take good care of you and Alma if you stay here, right?” Despite herself, Charlie hesitated and then nodded.

“Yeah. I think you probably would. But. That’s not what I want right now, and it’s definitely not what Alma wants.” She shook her head. “I made a stupid mistake and got separated from her. If she hasn’t found me yet on her own, I’m worried she’s in big trouble. Do you know where she is?” Ida brought her thumb and forefinger up to her mouth and drew them across her lips.

“Mm-mm. My lips are zipped, Charlie,” she said. “I don’t mind changing someone’s poopy butt, that’s a nanny’s job.” Charlie grimaced and rubbed her behind. Did she have to phrase it like that? “But other than that, I’m going to just let my little ones’ game play out.”

“If y’don’t mind me sayin’, Ida, I think you’re rootin’ for them,” Charlie said wryly. Ida just laughed into her hand and floated away, up into the ceiling.

Charlie’s first instinct was to run out of the room and go find Alma as soon as possible, but she stopped. Last time, she’d gotten caught when she went in front of…

“The mirror.”

Charlie grunted. She wasn’t in line of sight with the mirror right now. She wanted to keep it that way. So she grabbed a sheet off of one of the cribs, managed her way behind the mirror and threw the sheet over it from behind, covering the reflective glass on the other side.

“I’m just lucky it’s free-standing and not attached to the wall or I’d be grabbin’ a hammer and settin’ up for a buncha bad luck right now,” Charlie said, rubbing the back of her head. She waved a hand in front of the covered mirror, and when she wasn’t immediately possessed, took it as an indication that she was good to go. After that, her first stop was the secret passage, where her and Alma had gotten separated. She lifted the panel out, but it was empty, no sign of Alma or Zoe.

“Crud,” Charlie muttered. “Where the heck is she. If she got away, maybe she just left?” She asked out loud. “She might just say something like ‘Charlie, you got yourself into this, you can spend the next year in Gay Baby Jail on your own!’ and go sit in the car and see if I come out. Heheh.” The thought brought a smile to her face that quickly vanished. “I could go check the kitchen or the playroom, but they’re definitely expecting me there now. They’ll have all kinds of traps set and I don’t even have Alma protecting me or Zoe showing me any secret routes anymore. That wouldn’t go well.”

Charlie let out a long sigh.

“I’m lucky Ida didn’t just look at this disaster of a situation and say ‘Yup, you’re baby now,’ on principle.” She tilted her head. “Seems like she cares about maintainin’ some form of neutrality, so she probably won’t intentionally make things worse, but, she’s not gonna help either.” She looked around.

“Well, I sure ain’t makin’ any money standin’ around feelin’ sorry for myself. Guess I just gotta look around and keep my head on a swivel as much as I can,” she said. She headed for the door out of the bedroom, but it opened before she got there. She and Licorice both looked surprised to see each other standing in the doorway.

“H-hey! You were in a crib when we left, what gives?!” The red-haired ghost sputtered. The other three started poking their way into the room, all looking similarly surprised to see Charlie so upright and ambulatory.

“What gives? What gives?!” Charlie asked incredulously. “I’ll tell ya what gives, ya little ragamuffin, where’s Alma?!”

At that question, all four of the ghosts started giggling. Charlie didn’t like that.

They all moved out of the way and Alma approached the doorway.

“Alma, this is Charlie!” Mint said.

“Oh. Hey.” Alma waved. “Are you enrolling too?” Charlie’s eyes got big.

“Too?” She repeated, the word falling out of her mouth like it was made of lead.

“Uh, yeah, I’ve been here for…” Alma rubbed her neck. “A few-ish. Years? So I can show you around if you want.” She looked at Charlie’s waist - unfortunately her jeans didn’t do the best job showing the padding underneath. “Oh, it looks like you’re already in a diaper.” She cleared her throat. “Yeah, it’s um. Kind of common, here.”

Charlie sucked in a breath through her nose. She looked at the ghost girls. When they saw the expression on Charlie’s face, they actually shrunk back a bit.

“That was really. Really stupid.” The easygoing mirth had drained entirely out of Charlie’s face.

“Hey, don’t call my friends stupid,” Alma said, a little offended. Charlie took a step towards the ghosts.

“Change her back.”

“What’re you talking about?” Alma asked. Charlie reached out and grabbed Licorice by the collar.

“Change her back.”

“Hey, don’t touch Licorice!”

“Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, you can touch us too?!”

“Change her back!”

Charlie’s drew a fist backwards. It stayed there, never coming forwards. Her eyes twitched. She looked over at Alma. Alma’s eyes were glaring at Charlie and her hand was glowing and pointing behind her. For a second, Charlie thought she’d cast a spell on her. But she hadn’t. It was almost worse

She had cast a spell on the mirror behind Charlie, knocking the blanket covering it to the floor. Charlie slowly turned around to see her own reflection grinning at her again. Charlie’s hand came up, the same as the reflection.

Her fingers snapped together and just like that, she was back in the mirror.

With the immediate danger averted, all of the ghosts giggled at Charlie, even Licorice (albeit her laughs were more anxious than the rest). Lemon handed something to Alma, that made Alma grin. She walked around Charlie, hanging on her peripheral vision to not break her line of sight with the mirror.

“Hey Charlie!” She said and held up a bottle, waving it in Charlie’s face. “Do you want this?” She asked. Charlie watched her reflection nod its head and felt her own head nod as well. Alma popped the rubber nipple of the bottle into Charlie’s mouth and her reflection happily drank as Alma bottlefed her. Charlie groaned around the nipple as she felt more of the heavy ectoplasmic milk already settling in her stomach. Much as she might like to forget, it hadn’t been long enough for her to forget what the last bottle had done to her.

Several minutes later, the bottle was empty and Charlie’s stomach was full. No mystery there, Charlie was familiar with the effects of ghostly ectoplasm when ingested by a human. It filled things up, and fast. That was why she considered it fine for enchanting purposes, but not great as an ingredient on its own.

Unfortunately she had worse things to worry about than ectoplasm and its effect on her body at the moment, as her body had its own ideas, like marching its way across the room and standing in front of a large dresser, with two armoire-style doors on it.

Charlie sucked in a breath through her teeth and made eye contact with her reflection. The reflection lightly whacked her own head, as if to say ‘How could I possibly have forgotten this last time!?’ Clothes. That was the only thing stopping her from having lost the game last time. She tried to fight, tried to raise her hands up, but fighting her reflection, her body was just too slow and unresponsive. The doors of the dresser swung open and she hopped right inside. She turned around just in time to see the ghosts taking Alma away.

“She’ll be a bit, she’s gonna go down for a nap soon,” Mint said. “Choco, you got these clothes?”

“Mmhm!” Choco nodded, carrying a bundle of clothes with her. “This is your size, right, Alma?”

“Uh, yeah, it looks like it,” Alma said. Charlie felt a pit open up in her stomach as Alma regarded the clothes. Alma took one last look at Charlie and grinned, waving goodbye to her. “See ya, Charlie. I hope a nap puts you in a better mood, right?”

All the ghosts laughed as the dresser doors slammed shut on Charlie.

“ALMA!”

The doors closing broke line of sight with the mirror. Charlie immediately started banging on the doors of the dresser, trying to force it open. They didn’t budge, so she started yelling.

“Alma, they’re hypnotizing you! You don’t live here! You gotta focus, Alma! You gotta wake up and get out of here, right now! Forget about me! Just run! ALMA!” She shook her head. “Son of a butt, where is it,” she grumbled, rooting through her jacket and her pockets. She eventually pulled out a small knife. She shook her head. “This ain’t meant for cuttin’ wood, but…”

She swung the knife at the door. Something grabbed her arm.

A bit of light leaked in through the edge of the door. Charlie squinted, she was pretty sure she saw a sleeve of a dress wrapping around her own wrist.

“Aw, come on!” She moaned.

A shoe gave her a swift kick in the butt next, tipping her forward. That gave the dress the leverage to wrest the knife out of her hand. It clattered to the ground and before she knew it, more articles of clothing, shirts, dresses, gloves, were all pawing at her, first trying to grab her gear off of her, then pulling at her jacket and her pants entirely.

Charlie tired to fight back, but when you punched a possessed pair of pants, it just kind of flopped backwards and then went back to grabbing at you, so before she knew it, she was fully mobbed by a dozen articles of clothing that successfully stripped her of all of her gear, then started working her out of her clothes. Her shoes were untied and yanked off. Her jacket and t-shirt were pulled away, her pants were undone and yanked down around her ankles, then taken off one foot, then the other. Before she knew it, she was standing there in nothing but her bra. Well. Nothing but her bra and her diaper.

That wasn’t the part that worried her. The part that worried her came next as the clothes grabbed at her again to hold her still. Her arms were pulled up over her head.

“Nrgh! No - no way! You’re not - nmphh!” She tried to pull her arms down. Whatever garment they were sliding down on top of her, it was very soft. She felt her arms get dragged into the short sleeves, then her head was popped through the collar. The garment was long and flowing, touching down to her thighs. Speaking of which, a pair of something was placed onto her feet and then pulled up her legs next until it settled in place over her diaper. She tried to swat them away, but it finished with a pair of booties going over her feet where her socks had been and lacing themselves up.

All her resistance having amounted to exactly nothing, the doors opened and Charlie was shoved out of the dresser.

And two seconds later, she was back inside the mirror, her reflection instantly trapping her again.

She got a good look at herself and she wished she hadn’t. She was wearing a soft red-tinted nightgown. Her hands pulled up the front of the nightgown, revealing a thick, warm pair of bloomers around her waist. The bloomers themselves were so puffy that they almost entirely hid the thickness of the padding underneath. Her reflection giggled at her. She would’ve fit in well with all of those floofy, frilly diapered ghost girls now, for sure.

And so would Alma, at this rate. Moreso than anything about to happen to her, that thought made Charlie’s blood run cold. But she still had to worry about herself as her legs started moving, her reflection walking her towards the crib. Charlie could already see the sheets stirring inside.

‘Diapered, dressed, fed, asleep, in a crib.’ She swallowed. ‘That’s all five. If I wind up in there, it really is over this time. No more do-overs. And they’re gonna do the same to Alma. If I don’t get out of this, she’s done for…!’

The reflection was only a couple steps away from being in reach of the sheets, just as it had been last time. Charlie looked everywhere for something to stop her with. Her eyes got big as she looked at her reflection, or rather, the ground in front of her reflection.

She summoned all of the inner strength she had and forced her arms to reach down and grab it. She took in a breath. Her reflection blinked, confused when she saw what was in her hands.

“This is gonna suck,” Charlie said with a sigh. Her reflection’s eyes widened in horror, too late to stop it. Charlie shoved the stun baton into her stomach. Both she and the reflection screamed in pain.

The pain was short-lived. They both collapsed after a couple seconds, out cold.

And Charlie’s body limply flopped to the ground outside of the crib.
